Jen Childs is cleaning out her closet in this new multi-character solo comedy, and every outfit tells a story. Combining personal narrative with outrageous characters, She Gets Around looks at a collection of “bad girls” and “good girls” that Childs has been or has tried to be - onstage and off. From a 7-year-old who talks like Elaine Stritch and blames the patriarchy for being put in “time out”, to an angry party clown, to a parade of pioneering famous female comics, these characters guide Childs towards determining whether, moving forward, she needs to be more Doris Day or more Talullah Bankhead. Directed by longtime collaborator Harriet Power, Childs will jump from character to character in each performance in an order that the audience decides.
