Who Do You Think You Are?
Rose Love has a problem. Actually, she has several. There's a sparkly red heart in the middle of her forehead. She occasionally bursts into songs with no words. She's been called weird more times than she can count. And after spending much of her life trying to behave like a reasonably normal human being, she's beginning to suspect that normal may have been wildly overrated. Written and performed by Irene Foley-Chort as Rose Love, Who Do You Think You Are? is an interactive solo theatre experience blending storytelling, wordless song, humor, ritual and voluntary audience participation into a playful exploration of one deeply human question: Who were you before the world told you who to be? Part memory play, part dreamscape and part communal ritual, Rose's world is one where monster voices can be quieted, roses carry messages, a pineapple appears at a surprisingly meaningful moment, and singing becomes more than performance—it becomes an act of remembering. As Rose revisits the experiences that taught her to hide, audiences are invited to consider their own: What dream feels too late? What part of you is hidden? What song is still waiting? Audience members may write, breathe, hum, sing or simply listen. Participation is always optional. Singing ability is definitely not required.
